Is There Danger To Seeking Safety

Is there danger to getting safety?

Sounds like a crazy question.

Well as it turns out, there is because the person seeking safety may be frightened to take that action.

Why?

Because they feel there may be retaliation or repercussions.

They may be afraid to ring the bell because they may be harmed on the way to the safe zone.

Silence keeps us isolated.

In my journey, one of the most important truths that I learned was that breaking the silence and speaking my truth was critical to safety.

Will the person you confide in ignore you? not believe you?

If the answer is yes, then find someone who is a clear sounding board for you.

What this means is your sounding board must be strong where you are weak and have your best interests at heart.

This may not be family but a friend, a neighbor, a teacher or your doctor.

Don’t fail to get help because you are worried someone will not believe you.

We have been told if we tell, there will be terrible consequences.

But this is the fear rope to keep you from speaking your truth.

Your safety is paramount.

If you want more help with compassion language to self,  listening to your needs, restoring your self-esteem, protecting yourself from destructive people and situations then make the decision to seek safety which is the right thing to do even if you are afraid.

Always remember: if you are not quite ready for healing, don’t despair. Keep reading, keep learning and think about the benefits of changing vs the cons of changing. You are not alone. Talk to your health care provider and come back when you are ready. We will be here when you are ready. We love you and stay safe. Start with your safety plan today.
